The Sheep Heid Inn

43-45 The Causeway, Edinburgh EH15 3QA, UK – 0131 661 7974

Lovely location, away from hustle and bustle of city centre. Very welcoming staff. Good choice if beers. Food delicious. Only slight downside was portion size of kofta starter and linguine main could have been bigger, and steak was medium rather than rare as requested. These are minor points however and would happily return and recommend.

Marvellously fun pub with proper old skittles out back. Visited for next day post-wedding get together. Back room with skittles was hired for a few hours. Excellent fun for a crowd, young and old. Food was absolutely excellent. Beef sliders, chicken burgers, sweet potato chips, pizza, all fresh and cooked to perfection. Beef sliders also slightly on the rare side which is exactly how you serve them when your meat is as good as theirs. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Would have enjoyed a couple more ales to choose from, hence the 4 and not 5 stars but other than that, perfect.

The Scottie

100 Northfield Broadway, Edinburgh EH8 7RU, UK – 0131 669 7244

Good pub fare at a reasonable price. We arrived with our 9 year old son at 7:40, and their kid license expires at 8:30, but we were served our delicious food and drink and were out of the door with 5 minutes to spare. Nice vibe

A lovely wee local pub with a good menu and portion sizes.

The Esplanade Bar & Restaurant

62-64 Bath St, Edinburgh EH15 1HF, UK – 0131 669 0082

had a lovely and hearty portion of gnocchi with tomato sauce and meatballs there, it was a fantastic dish. i ate on the terrace even though it was the middle of march but it was worth it with the view to the sea and kids running around. the server was very attentive and friendly with me and i got some free mints when i paid - what a nice touch! going to espy was what i call a memorable experience!

Family friendly bar restaurant. Managed by a capable Australian who knows about hospitality. Good selection of beers. Menu is burger oriented with a few other pleasant surprises. Dogs welcome. Can get very busy so book a table to be on the safe side.
